Dir. D.W. Griffith.A young wife and her musician husband lead an impoverished living in a New York City tenement with an ailing grandmother. The husband leaves to sell his violin for his wife and grandmother. Upon his return, he is robbed by a neighborhood gangster. Sometime later in a dance hall, the same thief is involved in an argument with a rival over the musician's wife. The melee foments into a shootout in Pig Alley. The husband happens to come by and recognizes the robber. Can he retrieve his money? Very skillfully done melodrama with superb acting.
